What do I want to be when I grow up?

Yesterday my dd and I were driving around in the car. From the backseat, she said to me "mommy, when I get big and am not around you anymore, I think you should be an artist and have your own store."

What?? I am no artist and art isn't a really big deal in my house. I told her that I really don't know how to paint etc. She replied "well then after I am big and not around the house, you can take some classes THEN open an artist store. Or you could be a firegirl, a garbager, or a painter. Whatever you want to be!"

Well ok then. Glad she has my life all figured out.

What do you want to be when your kids are all out of the home? Yikes! What thoughts!

Our church history...

Back in the day when we first moved to Orlando, Jon and I felt led to start our own church. We had a passion and what we felt a call to our lives to go into full time ministry. We moved up to Orlando with no contacts, no friends, no theology degree, no money and a vision.

We rented a home and looked for a church to go to in the meantime. The first church we went to was Northland, A Church Distributed and the rest was history! Jon looked at me and said "this is the church that I wanted to start! We don't need to reinvent the wheel, lets just go here." While I would have loved to be a pastor's wife, I did breathe out a huge sigh of relief.

While my desire at first was to go to a church that was smaller and more community oriented, Northland has been a great fit for us. Pastor Joel Hunter is a remarkable man who is reaching my hearts cry at what the church should be. He has been active in community at the local and national level and it will be exciting to see where God takes him in the years to come. We are blessed as a family to be involved in such a ministry!

A few weeks ago, we went to church and this song was in my head for days afterwards. I was poking around the Internet today and found it! Hope you enjoy it!

Goings on...

Things around here have been going at the speed of light!

My kids continue to grow so fast. Yesterday my dd was running around the house with my cell phone in her back pocket - just like her momma! If Kylie was just a few weeks older, she would be eligible to start Kindergarten. Instead of that though, we will be doing light school at home and Luke will tag along.

Today I spent quite a few hours planning our activities next year. I am so inspired by visiting others blogs, checking out the Five in a Row message board and other organizational websites to see what they are all up to. I am excited to hit the ground running as I can't wait to learn with my kids. Now when they get to high school math, then I might have to hire a tutor!

Talking about growing up, Kylie has decided that she likes art! I can't wait until I am home when I can post pictures but she has finally slowed down and is paying attention to detail. She is coloring the correct colors and is attempting to stay in the lines. She is taking her time and doing a great job! She has a passion right now for writing her letters as well so she will draw a picture and I will spell what she wants to write below the picture. Precious!

Luke too has been showing a lot of self motivated growth. He is drawing little people (with huge eyes and legs!) but he is trying to get his detail correct as well. As dramatic as he gets, it makes me laugh every day at his emotion and perseverance as he tries to draw figures.

Enjoy your day!
